NDE to partner state govt on job creation
The Jigawa State office of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has sought synergy with the Jigawa State government to offer skills acquisition training to eradicate poverty and ensure self-reliance.
The State Director, Alh. Abdul-Hamid Mamman Daura, made the plea in an interactive session with journalists in his office in Dutse.
He said that as a federal government agency with expert tutors who are vast and talented in various trades, the duty of the agency was to make proposals, design and formulate memos and solicit the government’s support for implementation.
He added that NDE knows who is good at job creation in different crafts in collaboration with public participants who are experts in their places of work and would be willing to offer skills acquisition training in different crafts to the teeming youths for gainful employment.
According to him, the Jigawa office of NDE is acquainted with different crafts training, such as automobile training, woodworking and carpentry, tailoring, welding, pomade and perfume making, hair dressing and salons, and has trained over 150 people, comprising women, youths and graduates, in different crafts from January to date.
“We train and support our participants with working tools and appreciable funds during and after training as a support for them to be able to stand on their feet for self-reliance.
“Our intention was to offer our people skills training in different crafts of their choice, both youths and different classes of women for them to be self-employed, and indulge them from being nuisances in society.”
He commended the Jigawa State government for its continued patronage and support for NDE programmes in the state as well as its giant strides in resuscitating its seven Skills Acquisition Centres in the state by offering training skills to the state’s citizenry.
He then called on the youths to imbibe the spirit of being entrepreneurship in order to reduce poverty through gainful employment.
Established 35 years ago, NDE has offices in all the states of the federation with a mission to offer training in different crafts to the teeming youths, different classes of women and even graduates to acquire skills for gainful employment and self- reliance under the state and federal government employment programmes.
