NDLEA arrests 105 thugs with cocaine, cannabis during elections

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested no fewer than 105 suspected political thugs during the last elections in Kano.

State Commander of the Agency, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, who disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists on the operations of the agency during the elections, said men of the Command, who were reinforced to ensure smooth conduct of the elections, apprehended suspected party supporters found with cocaine, cannabis and other bad substances, weighing at 1637.520kgs.

The substances found on the suspects include 872kgs of cannabis sativa, 71.5kgs psychotropic substance, 400grammes of cocaine, 120 grammes of heroine and 120 grammes of Khat.

According to Abdul, the suspects were apprehended at Kwanar Danmarke, Kofar Ruwa, Ringi road, Chalawa Madubi, Sabon Gari and other notorious spots in the metropolis.He warned politicians against equipping youths with dangerous drugs and weapons to attack their opponents, stressed that NDLEA would not spare those sponsoring the thugs.
