Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two traditional title holders, students, and some civil servants in Jigawa State for alleged illicit drug deals.

The State Commandant, Mrs. Maryam Sani, said the suspects were arrested during NDLEA’s raid operations in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital,

According to her, the command during the raid was able to trace 5.970.00kg of illicit substances worth several millions of naira to the suspects.

She said the raid was in line with the directives by the NDLEA National Chairman, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (rtd) that such exercise is observed nationwide to cleanse all states of the federation from drug abuse.

She stressed that the two weeks exercise affords her officers the opportunity to fish out erring adults,  who have been engaged in illicit drug businesses.

Among the suspects were 25 students of Federal University Dutse (FUD) and the  State College of Education Gumel, while others were caught in different locations such as Sabuwar Maranjuwa, and Yan Tifa garage, all in Dutse.
