The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released N1.749 billion to Bayero University, Kano (BUK), as institutional charges for 14,990 undergraduate students under its 2025/2026 student loan scheme.

A letter from the university, dated July 15, 2026, and signed by its Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, acknowledged the receipt of two batches of the payment from NELFUND.

The acknowledgement letter, addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, expressed the university’s appreciation for the support and cooperation of the education loan agency.

According to the document, the university received N1.241 billion for the first batch, covering 10,617 students, while a second tranche of N507.899 million was released for another 4,373 students.

The first payment was received on April 30, 2026, while the second was received on June 23, 2026, bringing the total number of beneficiaries covered by the payments to 14,990 students.

The university said the funds represented the first and second tranches of institutional charges for the beneficiaries enrolled under the Nigeria Education Loan Fund scheme.
