The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed a security breach involving its official website, raising fresh concerns over cyber threats targeting government digital platforms in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday, the agency disclosed that suspected hackers gained unauthorized access to its website, prompting immediate technical intervention to contain the situation and restore the platform.

NEMA said efforts are currently underway to secure its systems, investigate the breach, and return the website to normal operations as quickly as possible.

The agency also issued a strong warning to Nigerians, urging the public to ignore any suspicious messages, fake announcements, misleading updates, or financial requests that may appear on the compromised platform or circulate through related online channels.

Officials stressed that any unusual communication requesting money or sensitive information should be treated as fraudulent pending the restoration of the website.

The development has once again drawn attention to growing cybersecurity challenges facing institutions and public agencies in the digital age.

NEMA assured Nigerians that it is working urgently to resolve the issue while strengthening the security architecture of its digital platforms to prevent future attacks.

The agency expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and promised to keep the public informed as recovery efforts continue.
