NEPZA, NASS collaborate to deepen Nigeria’s industrialisation process
The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), in collaboration with the Senate Committee on Trade, Industry and Investment, have entered into fresh agreement, aimed at strengthening the nation’s free trade zones to boost the country’s industrialisation process.
The collaboration is also expected to ensure that the operation of the special economic trade zones across the country fully commences, as they remain a tool to employment creation and spark industrialisation in the country.
According to a statement, the agreement was reached, when the Acting Chairman Senate Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator Francis Fadahunsi led his colleagues on a visit to NEPZA’s Managing Director, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, in Abuja.
Adesugba said: “The role of the National Assembly in enabling us to reach our mandate is very critical. I have no doubt that we will be working very closely with your committee to ensure that NEPZA attains its objective in playing a very critical role in the industrialisation process by government.”
Responding, Fadahunsi said the Senate is ready to work with the executive arm and by extension, the Authority to amend laws that would bring about needed innovation to make the agency perform optimally.
