New LASEPA GM promises to tackle environmental pollution in Lagos

The new General Manager (GM) of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, has promised to tackle the problem of environmental pollution. He said he would use the instrument of law to curb pollution in order to bring sanity and orderliness to the state.

Ajayi, a renowned medical practitioner and global health consultant, made this known during a meeting with the management and staff of the agency. He said: “LASEPA is pivotal to achieving a greater and cleaner Lagos. Therefore, massive public enlightenment will be combined with environmental law enforcement. “

He urged the workers to brace up for the challenge of achieving a cleaner environment and ready to deliver efficiency and effective services that would improve condition of environment for Lagos State to take its rightful place in the comity of modern cities.”

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, advised Ajayi to hit the ground running. He further called on him to implement every letter of the environmental law irrespective of individual and organisation involved in its violation to save the state from the precipe of becoming a state of nature .

The new general manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi succeeds Dr. Dolapo Fasawe who has taken a new higher responsibility at the Federal Capital Territory.
