NGO to create jobs for youths in agriculture
The Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progressive and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) says it will hold a National Youth in Agriculture Convention aimed at creating job opportunities for young Nigerians.

Mrs Omolara Svensson, National Coordinator of NWAPDI, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja, explained that the convention was geared towards exposing the youth to the enormous opportunities in agriculture sector.
Svensson said the convention scheduled for Aug. 14 with the theme “Sowing the Seeds of Sustainability” was targeted at all youths from ages 16 to 35 and could be attended in person through webinar.
She identified agriculture sector as the only sector in the country that guaranteed sustainable income adding that it was time for the country to build future leaders in the sector.

According to her, the future is green.
“The opportunities are enormous– access to scholarship in government owned institutions, access to affordable funding, access to training on cash crops cultivation, processing and export, access also to training on fishery and livestock.
“The agricultural sector is actually the only sector where you are guaranteed a sustainable and decent source of income for a lifetime, from cash crops farming to processing, commodity export to livestock and the list is endless.’’
Svensson identified the convention’s benefits and opportunities as 100 per cent government sponsored scholarships for federal and state government polytechnics as well as training on how to access affordable local and International funding.
“The convention provides opportunities for training on export market, training on crops/livestock production, local and international networking opportunities,” she said.
