Niger State government boosts agriculture with distribution of farm inputs, tools
The administration of Governor Umar Mohammed Bago in Niger State has taken a significant step towards enhancing agricultural productivity by distributing agricultural inputs and farm tools to farmers and workers in the state.
Governor Bago, represented by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, led the second phase of the distribution, injecting vitality into the farming community and supporting labor-intensive public workers.
The Niger State government allocated farm machinery worth hundreds of millions, including tractors, rice millers, multi-purpose threshers, hammer mills, power tillers, de-stoners, rice transplanters, and hand reapers. Additional support included seeds, herbicides/insecticides, water pumps, and fertilizers.
The distribution event also featured a cash transfer of 100,000 naira to over five thousand beneficiaries, along with laptops, POS machines, and smartphones. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to promoting active participation in farming and ensuring food security for the residents of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.
