Nigeria @ 65: Tambuwal urges citizens to embrace renewal, selfless service

Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has urged Nigerians to embrace renewal, courage, and selfless service as the nation marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.

In a goodwill message, Tambuwal said that while Nigeria’s democracy remains imperfect, it has the potential to evolve into “the pride of Africa and a beacon to the world” through sacrifice and commitment.

He described Nigeria as a resilient nation that has survived challenges that could have broken other countries, noting that its diversity remains its greatest asset and its youth the most valuable resource.

Tambuwal, however, expressed concern over the millions of young Nigerians trapped in poverty, saying this reality falls short of the vision of the nation’s founding fathers.

“Independence anniversaries are not only moments of reflection but also opportunities for recommitment. We must choose renewal over despair, courage over fear, and service over selfishness,” he said.

The former governor stressed the need to strengthen democratic institutions, foster unity, and demand accountability from leaders.

He urged citizens to actively contribute to national development, reminding them that “Nigeria will not change by chance but by deliberate choice.”

Tambuwal concluded with prayers for the people, the nation’s democracy, and the continued progress of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
