Nigeria to host AFRIGIST governing council October 5
Nigeria has concluded plans to host the 51st meeting of the African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information, Science, and Technology (AFRIGIST) Governing Council.
AFRIGIST, formerly Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveys (RECTAS), is under the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).
The meeting scheduled for October 15, 2020, would attract eight African countries namely: Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Nigeria to be held in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Taiwo S. Adeniran, said the council would discuss critical issues of acquisition of knowledge and skills on geospatial information, science, and technology.
Also, Executive Director of AFRIGIST, Dr. A. O. Akingbade, hinted that arrangements have been made for the meeting and would focus on applications for the development of all sectors of the economy.
