Nigeria to host second security summit Saturday


buhariPresident Muhammadu Buhari is to declare open the second Regional Security Summit holding this Saturday in Abuja as part of ongoing efforts by his administration to enhance security of lives, properties and investments in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

The event, a follow-up to the first edition which held in Paris, France on May 17, 2014, is to be attended by President Francois Hollande of France and a host of other dignitaries.

A statement yesterday by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the President who is currently in the United Kingdom attending a two-day anti-corruption summit and the French leader who is arriving Abuja Friday on an official visit, would be joined by the Presidents of Cameroun, Paul Biya; Niger Republic, Momodou Issoufou; Chad, Idris Deby and their Benin Republic counterpart.

Also expected at the event are the United States, Britain, Equatorial Guinea, the European Union (EU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC).
