The Speaker, of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon Daniel Oga Ogazi, has applauded President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in his democratic posture in the emergence of the new leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
Ogazi also commended the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas on their election victories.
Ogazi in a press statement Wednesday, described the emergence of the 10th National Assembly as a seamless democratic process that has further deepened democracy in the country.
“Let me seize this opportunity to commend the democratic posture of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite having preferred candidates, allowed all members-elect to freely exercise their constitutional rights to vote and be voted for in the just concluded elections.
“I also salute the APC National and Security agencies for the professional manner in handling the election processes, purging themselves of partisanship. This is expected in a democratic setting, which is in tandem with my avowed commitments to salvage the Nasarawa State House of Assembly from undemocratic forces.
“I strongly call on State Governors to take a cue from Mr President and respect the law of separation of powers and independence of the legislatures.”
Adding: “I have confidence in the leadership capacities of the duo of Senator Akpabio and Speaker Abbas, to bring their vast legislative experiences to bear in translating the renewed hope of Nigerians into physical reality through people’s centred legislation.”
The speaker expressed the readiness of the 7th Assembly in the state to partner with the National Assembly and replicate some of its sound legislation for a more robust legislative business in the state.
