The Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Senator representing Ebonyi North Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi on Friday said that he is passionate about helping people, especially the downtrodden.

Nwebonyi disclosed this during the inauguration of his projects in the zone, which includes three-bedroom apartments built for some widows in the Ebonyi North senatorial zone by the wife of the Ebonyi State governor, Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru.

Nwebonyi added that he started building houses for people with poor shelter when I was into legal practice before joining politics.

Addressing Mrs. Nwifuru, Sen. Nwebonyi said the shelters of the beneficiaries were very poor, which led to their nominations for the construction of befitting houses for them.

He disclosed that the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese nominated some of the beneficiaries for the projects as he does not know them.

He commended Mrs. Nwifuru inaugurating the projects despite her tight schedules and assured that he will continue to better the lots of the less privileged and his constituents.

On the motorized boreholes he constructed in Enyibichiri Amegu, Abakaliki Local Government Area, he noted that he understands that lack of potable water was the major problem the people of Ebonyi North senatorial zone are facing, which made him construct some boreholes in the constituency.

Speaking, Mrs. Nwifuru averred that the Senator has relieved some burden from her by remembering the windows and prayed God to continue to bless him and congratulated the beneficiaries.

She maintained that “Senator Nwebonyi has shown that he has the interest of the people at heart, likewise the Governor of our dear state and that’s why we are seeing these projects.”

She urged other lawmakers in the state to emulate the Senator to change the lives of their people.

The houses were built for Mrs. Nnenna Adoke at Ndigwe Igbeagu, by TTC, Izzi Local Government Area, Mrs. Patricia Ben Nwofoke at Adam Village, Ndiuruku Amegu, Abakaliki Local Government Area, among others
