Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has opened the NYSC 2024 Batch ‘C’ orientation camp, assuring corps members of safety and support.

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety, well-being, and security of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across the state. He made the declaration on Friday during the opening of the orientation course for the NYSC 2024 Batch ‘C,’ Stream 2, held at the temporary camp at the UBEC Training Centre in Gusau.

The resumption of the orientation camp in Zamfara follows the successful return of peace and a notable reduction in banditry within the state, which allowed the 2024 Batch ‘C,’ Stream 1, to also undergo their training earlier this year.

Governor Lawal inspected the quarter guard mounted by corps members before addressing the gathering from the saluting dais, where he opened the orientation course. In his remarks, he acknowledged the vital role that the NYSC scheme plays in promoting national integration, with corps members contributing to the development of various sectors such as education, health, and agriculture.

“We, in Zamfara State, feel the positive impact of the skilled services provided by youth corps members,” the Governor said. “They contribute selflessly to key sectors, complementing government efforts in meeting the needs of our people.”

Lawal further emphasized that the resumption of the orientation activities in the state is a significant milestone in restoring stability and confidence in the region. He expressed his gratitude to the corps members and assured them of the state government’s full support.

The Governor added, “We will provide incentives to help you make Zamfara State your new home. As educated youths, you share the responsibility of shaping the nation’s destiny. I assure you of our commitment to your safety, well-being, and security throughout your service year.”

Governor Lawal urged the corps members to embrace the cultural and religious values of Zamfara, stating that the people are known for their hospitality and peaceful coexistence. He encouraged them to explore the state’s abundant opportunities, particularly in the agricultural sector, and consider them after completing their service year.

Addressing the youth, he said, “We are now in the dawn of a new Zamfara State, with great promise to the people, including those from other parts of the country who wish to be part of this transformation.”

The Governor concluded his address by welcoming the corps members to Zamfara and encouraging them to take the orientation seriously to have a fruitful and memorable service year.

Earlier, Mallam Muhammed Lawan Ahmed, the NYSC Zamfara State Coordinator, commended Governor Lawal for his administration’s continued support, which has been instrumental in the success of the NYSC scheme in the state.
