
The Direkci Group, a prominent Turkish company, is set to transform agriculture in Zamfara State with the introduction of mechanized farming and Greenhouse technology. The initiative aims to diversify agricultural practices and boost the local economy through the large-scale cultivation of crops like cotton, sugarcane, and soybeans.
Led by its Managing Director and CEO, Nurullah Mehmet, a delegation from the Direkci Group visited Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House in Gusau over the weekend to formalize the partnership.

In a statement on Monday, Governor Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, highlighted the ambitious scope of the project. The initiative will integrate advanced mechanized farming techniques alongside traditional methods, including poultry farming, to deliver substantial benefits for the state.
The introduction of Greenhouse technology, in particular, promises year-round cultivation, improved crop yields, and reduced dependence on imports. The project also aims to enhance the agricultural value chain and attract further investment to the state.
Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s focus on revitalizing agriculture as a means of achieving food security, creating employment opportunities, and fostering economic development in Zamfara.

“As I promised during the campaigns, if elected, my government will focus on security, agriculture and food security, education, healthcare, the economy and empowerment,” the Governor stated. “Our beloved state, Zamfara, is recognized as an agricultural society. Our goal is to revive this sector.”
Governor Lawal noted that securing farms and providing modern farming tools and techniques are crucial steps toward agricultural revitalization. He also praised the Direkci Group’s proven expertise and welcomed their investment.
“I travelled to Turkey in July, visiting greenhouse projects, dairy farms, poultry operations and the Turk Traktor manufacturing plant. The Direkci Group is in Zamfara to introduce technological advancements in agriculture,” he added.

Nurullah Mehmet, Managing Director of Direkci Group, commended Governor Lawal’s administration for its visionary projects and reaffirmed his company’s commitment to driving agricultural transformation in Zamfara.

The group plans to leverage greenhouse technology to enable year-round farming, improve crop quality, and boost food availability in the state. Additionally, mechanized farming and poultry projects are expected to generate employment across various skill levels, from farmworkers to agribusiness professionals.
