Transcorp Hilton celebrates women in key leadership positions

AS the world celebrates this year’s International Women’s Day, Transcorp Hilton Abuja, has proudly joined the global community in recognizing the achievements and impact of women across all sectors.

With the theme, ‘Give to Gain’, the ceremony highlights the need to supporting, empowering and investing in women – a commitment that ultimately benefits individuals, organizations and society as a whole.

Speaking in Abuja, the hotel’s E-Commerce Manager, Ijeoma Cassandra Osuji, said that globally, Hilton has long championed diversity, equity and inclusion, creating pathways for women to thrive in leadership roles across the hospitality industry.

“At Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, this commitment is reflected in the growing number of women occupying key leadership positions, contributing their expertise and unique perspectives to the hotel’s continued growth and reputation for excellence.”

She added that the hotel’s commitment towards empowering women in leadership is evident across the management structure.

“Today, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja is proud to have strong female representation across key director roles, including the first indigenous female Commercial Director, Ms Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi and Director of Rooms, Mrs Onyinye Ajoku, alongside other accomplished women, who continue to contribute to the hotel’s leadership and strategic direction.

“Their presence reflects the organization’s deliberate efforts to create opportunities for women to grow, lead, and excel within the hospitality industry.

“Together, these leaders embody the spirit of this year’s IWD theme, ‘Give to Gain’. Their collective impact demonstrates that when organizations invest in empowering women through opportunity, mentorship and recognition, they cultivate stronger leadership, diverse perspectives and sustainable growth that benefits the entire organization.”

According to her, it was such commitment that has contributed immensely to strong commercial performance, enhanced guest experiences, improved operational efficiency and the overall well-being and engagement of the hotel’s team members.

“The hotel’s commitment to empowerment is also evident in one of the initiatives – Travel with Purpose initiatives – an empowerment programme for designed for women. Since its launch in 2017, it has trained and equipped over 60 young women with sewing skills, essential business and financial management knowledge, marketing capabilities and customer service expertise to launch their own fashion ventures.

“This initiative reinforces the belief that when women are empowered with the right skills and opportunities, communities and economies thrive.”

As the hotel joined the rest of the world in marking the IWD 2026, it stressed its commitment to always celebrate remarkable women, whose leadership, innovation and dedication continue to inspire progress within the organization and beyond.

“Their contributions serve as a powerful reminder that when women are empowered to succeed, everyone stands to gain”, Osuji added.
