The Lagos State Police Command has arrested suspected cultists, Jamiu Rasheed, 22, and Sheriff Module, 26, for the murder of a rival cult member, Akinola Ayegbusi at a restaurant in Alapere area of the state.

Jamiu was arrested following CCTV footage, which captured him in July hacking Akinola to death.

Spokesperson for the Command, Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday, said investigations revealed that Jamiu is a member of a cult group, Klansman Confraternity, since 2017 and has participated in the murder of two rival cultists.

He said: “Investigation into the crime also led to the arrest of the group’s armourer, one Sheriff Module, 26, who was found with two locally made pistols and another cultist, Emmanuel Samson.

“Sheriff, who was also part of the killing confessed that it was carried out to avenge the death of their leader, killed by the Eiye Confraternity on November 23, 2021.

“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing cultists, while the suspects will be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.”

Meanwhile, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Abiodun Alabi, has called on parents and guardians as well as relevant stakeholders to prevail on their children or wards to stay away from cultism and other social vices.
