APC group faults Ndume over Tinubu appointments, budget claims

The APC Youth Network Worldwide has criticised Senator Ali Ndume for what it described as misleading and reckless comments concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political appointments and fiscal management.

In a strongly worded statement following a strategy meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the youth group said the Borno South senator’s claims were not only unfounded but potentially damaging to public trust in the administration.

Ndume had accused the Tinubu government of violating the constitutional provision on federal character and spending borrowed funds on frivolities. However, the APC Youth Network dismissed the allegations as “factually inaccurate” and driven by personal motives.

Abubakar Gidado, coordinator of the group, said the senator’s remarks were unbecoming of a ranking legislator, particularly one who has benefitted from the same political structure he now criticises.

“Senator Ndume’s statements are not just misleading — they are disgraceful,” Gidado said. “The budgeting reforms introduced under President Tinubu are among the most transparent and reform-oriented in recent memory. This administration has reduced waste, prioritised capital projects, and made significant efforts to curb recurrent expenditure.”

Gidado noted that Tinubu’s appointments reflect national inclusiveness, contrary to the senator’s claims.

“The President has appointed Nigerians from all geopolitical zones to serve in key roles across ministries, agencies, and parastatals,” he said. “Senator Ndume’s assertions on federal character are outdated and fail to reflect the current realities of governance.”

The group accused the senator of seeking political relevance through public outbursts and media appearances rather than focusing on legislative responsibilities.

“Rather than resort to political theatre, Senator Ndume should direct his energy towards meaningful contributions in the National Assembly,” Gidado added. “Our party and its youth wing will not sit idly by while political actors attempt to discredit the government’s efforts for the sake of headlines.”

The group urged President Tinubu to remain focused on delivering reforms and not be distracted by critics with questionable motives.

“Millions of young Nigerians at home and in the diaspora still believe in the capacity of this government to deliver,” Gidado concluded.
