Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended four suspected terrorists and seized a cache of weapons during a successful operation in Taraba State.

The operation, conducted on Tuesday in the Tau general area of the Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, was in response to a distress call reporting the presence of armed men in the community.

The Brigade’s Acting spokesperson, Captain Oni Olubodunde, in a statement, said the troops deployed to the area responded swiftly and apprehended four suspects.

Three out of the four suspects were found in possession of firearms.

Items recovered include two pump-action rifles, one locally fabricated firearm, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and a national identity card.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been invited to the area by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, whose role in the incident is under investigation,” the army said.

Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s dedication to protecting lives and property across Taraba and neighboring regions.

The Army also called on the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid in the ongoing fight against terrorism and efforts to maintain peace in the state.
