Bandits release son after death of monarch dad, N60m ransom
The son of the monarch and District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa, has been released by his captors after the payment of a N60M ransom.
Alhaji Bawa was abducted about a month ago and tragically died while in captivity.
Surajo Isa, the son of the deceased district head, confirmed the news to reporters. He revealed that the bandits demanded and received a ransom of ₦60 million along with five motorcycles before releasing his brother.
“He came back from the bandits’ den around 8:30 pm,” Isa said.
He further explained that his father was buried by the bandits in the bush after his death.
“This is what our brother told us after his release,” Isa added.
Hon. Aminu Boza, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, also confirmed the development. He expressed sorrow over the situation, noting that the late Emir’s son, Alhaji Kabir Isa, is currently receiving treatment at Usman Danfodio Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) in Sokoto.
