Stanbic IBTC Bank has unveiled plans for new initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability of Walter Carrington Crescent in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The initiative is a collaboration with the Victoria Island & Ikoyi Residents Association (VIIRA), the Victoria Island & Ikoyi Security and Environment Trust (VIISET), and the Recycling Scheme for Women and Youth Empowerment (RESWAYE), a non-governmental organisation focused on cleaning up challenging coastal regions and managing recyclable waste.

This was disclosed by the bank’s representatives, including the Chief Risk Officer, Mr Kola Lawal, and the Head of Real Estate Services, Mrs June Majaroh, during a visit by a three-member delegation from VIIRA.

The delegation, appointed by the group’s Chairman, Prince Akin Fadoju, visited the bank’s headquarters on Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island.

During the visit, Stanbic IBTC Bank reaffirmed its commitment to providing ongoing financial support to VIIRA. The bank also emphasised the need for increased corporate contributions to strengthen the critical initiatives led by VIIRA and VIISET, which address environmental and security concerns in the Victoria Island and Ikoyi communities.

The bank highlighted its advanced internal waste paper recycling programme, which contributes to the production of hygiene tissues used in its offices. It praised VIIRA for its unwavering dedication to improving environmental standards and public safety in partnership with the Lagos State Government, relevant agencies, and the Nigeria Police Force.

The VIIRA delegation included Mrs Dudun Peterside, a trustee of VIISET; Mr Ifeanyi Asiodu; and the Executive Secretary of VIIRA, Mr Abdul Latif Muse.
