Buba donates N50m to Borno flood victims
The Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District and the Chairman Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Shehu Buba Umar, has donated N50 million to support victims of the flood disaster in Borno State.
According to the Senator’s Media Aide, Sulaiman Lalaye, in a statement, Buba made the donation Thursday when he visited Maiduguri to commiserate with the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the people of the state.
The lawmaker was accompanied by the leadership and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress in Bauchi, including the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Lawal Tilde, former Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Yahaya Miya, Alhaji Bala Hadith, and stakeholders from Bauchi.
Buba commended Zulum and the Borno State Government for their prompt response to the disaster by deploying emergency services to provide relief materials, evacuate affected residents, and restore basic services.
He lauded the federal government for swift response and support; and urged development partners and humanitarian organisations to assist Borno State in mitigating the impacts of the flood.
He said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected victims, we sympathised with all people of Borno State and prayed for the souls of the deceased, and speedy recovery for all those affected by the disaster.
Zulum expressed gratitude for the support extended by Buba and thanked the senator for the swift assistance provided during the critical time and pledged that the assistance would be used judiciously for the benefit of the victims.
