Burglars destroy property, loot former GM’s residence in Delta

Unknown hoodlums have reportedly burgled the residence of Mr Monday Uwagwu, a former General Manager (GM) of Delta Printing and Publishing Company (DPPC), publishers of The Pointer Newspaper, carting away valuables worth millions of naira.

The incident occurred at Uwagwu’s residence on Abude Lane in Agbor Obi, Ika South Local Council of Delta State.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Uwagwu said he was uncertain of the time the burglary occurred as the property had been vacant since the last tenant was evicted for unpaid rent, with a new tenant yet to move in.

The burglars were said to have gained access to the building by dismantling the protector, destroying the side balcony, and cutting through the ceiling. They reportedly ransacked the house, carting away valuables that were still being assessed.

Uwagwu, who visited the residence to inspect the damage, expressed shock over the level of destruction and condemned the rising spate of burglaries in Agbor and its environs.

He called on youths in the community to prioritise education and craftsmanship, urging them to shun crime and pursue honest livelihoods.

Sympathisers who visited the scene described the burglary as unfortunate, noting that similar cases have risen in Agbor.
