The Borno State Police Command has deployed over 3,000 personnel to secure churches and other places of worship during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Police Commissioner Mohammed Yusuf disclosed this over the weekend (Friday) during a meeting with the Northeast Christian Association of Nigeria (NCAN) Chairman, Bishop Mohammed Naga, in Maiduguri.

According to him, the meeting focused on securing all churches and other places of worship during the festive period in the state.

“Today’s event at the Command was to ensure a peaceful and secure yuletide season in every part of Borno State,” he said, adding that this also includes border communities with Chad, Niger, and Cameroon.

Yusuf assured the Bishop that the Command would deploy adequate security personnel to all churches and other places of worship across the state.

Additionally, he noted that the deployment aims to prevent any disruptions and ensure a hitch-free Christmas and New Year services.

While acknowledging the Command’s efforts in protecting lives and property, Naga pledged support to the Police to help them achieve their mandate.
