Consultant gynaecologist offers N120m free fertility treatment to childless couples

As part of efforts aimed at supporting individuals and couples struggling with infertility, a consultant gynaecologist and obstetrician, Dr. Ademola Ayodele, has offered a N120m free fertility treatment.

Speaking during his 60th birthday held in Lagos recently, Ayodele, who is also the Medical Director, The StrongTower Specialist Hospital and Fertility Centre, Lagos, described  the gesture as giveback initiative.

He said the gesture was also to make fertility treatments more accessible and affordable, adding that “the joy of many marriages is often tied to the ability to have children, especially in Africa.”

“As a token of gratitude, I am offering free Intrauterine Insemination  treatments to 60 patients and a 50 per cent discount on InVitro Fertilisation  for another 60 patients over the next six months.”

“This is a seed of hope, a gift of love, and a possibility offered in thanksgiving to God, who has done exceedingly more than I could ever ask or imagine,” he said.

In his earlier  presentation entitled “Be fruitful and multiply,” he identified ignorance, poverty, quackery, as challenges preventing couples from conceiving.

He listed four criteria necessary for conception which include viable egg, healthy sperm, clear passage/route, and a functional womb.

To him,  solutions to infertility can include appropriate tests, counselling, timed intercourse, hormonal support, IUI, IVF, and even advanced options like surrogacy or uterine transplants.

Also, a surgeon abd celebrants’s friend, Dr. Olasehinde Matthew, recalled how the devil wanted to take his life some years ago, but stated,  “I am glad he survived. Today, we celebrate not just his 60th birthday but also his enduring impact. “

On another interview, Dr. Ayodele’s daughter, Dr. Ayodele Favour, also a gynaecologist, described her father as a great man that is committed to his profession.
