An Enugu Magistrate’s Court yesterday granted bail to a 32-year-old lady, Loveth Alo Helen who allegedly made a false testimony at Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, Lagos.
Loveth was arraigned before Magistrate S.O Chukwuani on a four-count charge bordering on defamation of character, conspiracy, felony and false pretence.
She was accused of false pretence with intent to defraud and present herself as the owner of a Five Bedroom Duplex situate at Plot 16 WTC Estate, Enugu belonging to one Emmanuel Asogwa and attempted to sell the same property with some persons now at large.
She was accused of defaming the character of the spiritual director of the Ministry, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Asogwa as well as Zion Prayer Movement Outreach by giving false testimony during service, knowing it to be likely to injure the character and reputation of Obi, Asogwa and the Ministry.
Helen pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they were read to her, prompting her counsel, Charles Nwodo to apply for her bail.
Magistrate Chukwuani admitted her to bail with the sum of N1 million and the presentation of three years tax clearance from whoever would stand as her surety.
He adjourned to April 9, for hearing.
Part of her charges read: “That you Loveth Alo Helen, ‘f’, on February 26, 2025 at Plot 16 WTC Estate, Enugu in Enugu North Magisterial District did by false pretence and with intent to defraud, present yourself as the owner of a five bedroom duplex situate at Plot 16 WTC Estate, Enugu belonging to one Emmanuel Asogwa ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 460 of the Criminal Code, Cap 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.”
Speaking to journalists after her arraignment, the suspect restated that she did not arrange or discuss the testimony with anybody, stressing that she did not collect anything from anybody to do so.
She maintained that she was trying to exercise her faith with the hope that she would get a similar property after the prophecy.
“I did the testimony claiming that I will get it, nobody arranged anything with me, I did not collect anything from anybody,” she stated.
She added that she inspected the building before making the video.
