A taxi driver was killed on Sunday night in a cult-related violence in the Mile 2 Diobu area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was learnt that the deceased was shot during a violent clash between rival cult groups.
The victim, whose identity has not been ascertained, was caught in the crossfire between the Blood Star and D12 factions of the Deygbam cult groups at about 1:00 p.m.
According to eyewitnesses, the cult groups engaged in a shootout along Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu, forcing business owners and traders to flee for safety.
The rampaging hoodlums also robbed passers-by and shop owners, exacerbating the chaos.
The remains of the taxi driver were retrieved by police operatives from the Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, and taken to the station.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the killing.
