The decomposing body of Titilope Olusanya, a 45-year-old Ogun State resident was found in her room on Monday night.

Operatives of the Kemta Division of the Ogun State Police Command suspect that it was a case of suicide.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola revealed that Olusanya’s landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, raised the alarm after suspecting that the deceased was not seen in the Shittu Street, Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta, for several days.

“Worried about her well-being, he went to her apartment and noticed a strong, unpleasant odour coming from inside. The door to her apartment was locked inside, prompting him to raise the alarm,” Odutola said.

The police spokesperson added that the police operatives broke into the deceased’s apartment and found Olusanya’s body lying on the bed, swollen, suggesting that she had been deceased for some time.

She added that Olusanya could not be transported to the nearest hospital due to a lack of medical equipment to prevent the spread of infections from the dead body.

Odutola also noted that attempts by the police to collaborate with the local health authority and contact Olusanya’s family were unsuccessful because no immediate relatives of the deceased could be reached.
