…Arrest Two Over Tramadol in Separate Operations

 

The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh operational breakthroughs with the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Ughelli and the arrest of two suspected drug dealers in Asaba in separate operations carried out across the state.

The command disclosed this on Friday by its spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed that the operatives of the ‘A’ Division, Warri, recovered an ash-coloured 2003 Toyota Corolla, with registration number WW-579MD, barely two hours after it was reported stolen.

He said the vehicle was reportedly stolen on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from where it was parked at Awani Close, Ajamugha, Warri; the detectives attached to the division immediately commenced a coordinated operation in collaboration with the Dragon Patrol Team following receipt of the report.

The operation yielded results when the vehicle was located along Winners Church Road, Ughelli, within two hours of the theft being reported, he explained

Edafe said efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for the theft, adding that investigations into the incident were continuing.

He also hinted that In a separate operation the same day, operatives of the police patrol team attached to Operation Delta Shield intercepted a Toyota Hiace bus along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, during a stop-and-search exercise.

A search of the vehicle, according to the command, resulted in the recovery of 132 sachets of 100mg Tramadol.
Two suspects, identified as Hillary Osondu, 54, and Abubakar Bello, 54, were arrested in connection with the discovery.

The command said the suspects were currently in police custody while investigation continued to establish the source and intended destination of the suspected illicit drugs.

Commending the officers involved in both operations, Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi praised their prompt response and operational alertness, urging personnel across the command to sustain the momentum through proactive, intelligence-led policing.

The CP also called on residents of the state to remain vigilant and promptly provide the police with credible information concerning suspicious persons, movements and activities in their communities.

He assured residents that the command would continue to deploy its available resources towards preventing and detecting crime, as well as protecting lives and property across Delta State.
