Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected gun-runner with more than 850 live rounds of ammunition in Cross River State.
The suspect was apprehended yesterday during a covert operation by DSS operatives in a community within the state.
DSS sources said “the arrest followed credible intelligence on the movement of illegal arms in the area”.
According to the sources, the suspect was intercepted while allegedly transporting the ammunition to an undisclosed destination, raising concerns over possible threats to public safety.
The DSS has since taken the suspect into custody for further interrogation and investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the network.
