
An early morning fire yesterday gutted a section of Queen Elizabeth Hall, one of the students’ hostels at the University of Ibadan (UI), Oyo State.
The Guardian learnt that the fire, which broke out in the early hours, affected the office of the Hall Warden and the Secretary. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained at press time.

Firefighters from the University Fire Service were quickly deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
Confirming the incident, the institution’s Director of Public Communications, Mrs Adejoke Akinpelu, said: “Yes, it is true. The office of the Warden and the office of the Secretary of the Warden were affected.”
