Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 40 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations carried out in Bida and Minna Local Government Areas of Niger State.
The anti-graft agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the arrests were based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to various fraudulent online activities.
Items recovered during the raids include three cars, eight power-generating sets, one Hisense air conditioner, two power stabilisers, 10 motorcycles, eight laptop computers, four Bluetooth speakers, and 60 Android phones.
Oyewale also revealed that operatives recovered fetish items believed to be used for spiritual fortification during the crimes. These included three calabashes adorned with feathers, traditionally made soap and sponge, a bottle of hot drink, 20 cowries, a waist bead, and four women’s undergarments.
He stated that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
