Expert seeks collective action to address proper waste disposal

The Chief Executive Officer of E-Terra Technologies Ltd., Ifeanyi Ochonogor, has emphasised the urgent need for collective action in addressing environmental and health dangers posed by the improper disposal of electronic waste.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ workshop on e-Waste Management and Circular Economy organised by the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), he noted, “the time has come for citizens, government, and all relevant stakeholders to work together in unison to combat the menace of electronic waste and ensure a safer and cleaner environment for present and future generations

With the theme: “Transforming e-Waste into Opportunity: Circular Economy Solutions for Ogun State,” he also informed participants about the commencement of plans for what is projected to be Africa’s first Waste Recycling and Refining Facility in Shagamu, Ogun State.

He said the project would enhance sustainable waste management practices, create employment opportunities, and further position Ogun State as a hub for environmental innovation and circular economic development in Africa.

The workshop featured presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions aimed at promoting awareness, collaboration, and sustainable approaches to e-waste management within Ogun State and beyond.

Other participants include, government officials, environmental experts, private sector stakeholders, recyclers, and sustainability advocates.
