Two Almajiri students in Kuchibiyu Community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), were killed and two others injured as a deadly explosion rocked an Islamiyyah school on Monday.

A public health practitioner in charge of the public health facility in the area who received the victims explained that one of the victims had the explosive (suspected to be IED) wrapped in a cloth in his hands and was discussing with three other friends.

He said it was in the process of trying to unwrap the substance that it exploded, killing the boy instantly and injuring the other three.

He added that one of the three who were injured subsequently died at Kubwa General Hospital while the other two are responding to treatment.

He also informed that emergency and security personnel, including the police bomb disposal squad, the civil defense, as well as soldiers, have arrived at the explosion scene.

He added that calm has returned to the community, confirming that the community had been peaceful before the incident. He also said that he could not confirm if it was a suicide bombing or not.

There is no official police comment on the incident as efforts to speak with the police officer in charge of Kubwa Police Command failed.
