FCT Police recover SUV stolen at gunpoint
The FCT Police Command has successfully recovered a Lexus GS460, 2016 model, stolen at gunpoint along the Kubwa Expressway on January 30, 2025.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the recovery, adding that the vehicle was located with the help of digital tracking technology.
She urged residents to install tracking devices in their vehicles to assist in swift recovery during such incidents.
According to Adeh, the police received a distress call and immediately launched an operation, leading to a hot pursuit of the suspects. The criminals, under pressure from the police, abandoned the vehicle in a secluded area in Suleja, Niger State, and fled.
“In response to a distress call received by the Command’s emergency room, all patrol and surveillance teams within the city were placed on high alert. Police operatives launched an aggressive manhunt for the suspects,” she said.
“With the aid of digital tracking technology, the stolen vehicle was traced, and the suspects were sighted. A hot pursuit ensued, during which the criminals, overwhelmed by the intense pressure from the Police, abandoned the vehicle on a secluded road in Suleja, Niger State, and fled.
“The stolen car was successfully recovered and is now in Police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the crime.”
The FCT Police Command advises the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
