A love feast at a white garment church in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, has turned tragic, with no fewer than five people dying after consuming a meal, while several others were left hospitalised and are being treated at the Infectious Disease Centre in Olodo area of the ancient city.

The incident took place last Sunday at the church premises in Apata, Ido Local Government Area (LGA).

While the cause of the deaths remains under investigation, with authorities reportedly exploring various possibilities, including food poisoning.

According to reports, the victims consumed the same meal, beans, as others who did not experience any adverse effects, leading to speculation that the incident may not be directly linked to the “Love Feast.”

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
