Four persons have been charged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over the alleged forgery of the traditional constitution governing the Eze (Igweship) of Nkpor in Anambra State.
The defendants are Sunday Uche Nwaofia, Patrick Ajemba, Onuorah Anigbogu and Ekene Okolo.
In the charge sheet, the Federal Government accused the four defendants of conspiring to forge the traditional regulation governing the Nkpor kingship, forging the document and fabricating evidence allegedly intended for use in a pending court case.
The first count alleged that the defendants conspired on or about March 9, 2026, within the court’s jurisdiction, to commit a felony by forging the traditional regulation. The alleged offence is punishable under Section 1(2) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap. M17, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
In the second count, the defendants were accused of forging the traditional regulation governing the Eze (Igweship) of Nkpor, while the third count alleged that they intentionally gave or fabricated false evidence for use in suit No. HID/72/2026, involving Samuel Egwu and seven others against Sunday Oreg Okeke, also known as Imperial, and 13 others.
According to the charge, the alleged offence falls under Section 157 of the Penal Code and is punishable under Section 158.
The fourth count concerns the alleged fraudulent or dishonest use of the disputed traditional regulation as a genuine document.
The defendants are expected to appear before Justice Inyang Ekwo on a date yet to be fixed to take their pleas.
