Fugitive Chinese gang leader captured in Abuja, repatriated to Beijing

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in collaboration with the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja, has successfully repatriated a fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.

Qisheng, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for orchestrating and leading violent organised crimes, fled to Nigeria in 2024 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He sought refuge in Nigeria but was tracked, placed under surveillance, and eventually apprehended in Abuja by INTERPOL NCB operatives on August 8, 2025. Following his arrest, Qisheng was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the established framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL.

Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening international alliances to ensure that criminals find no haven in the country.
