Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has pledged his administration’s unwavering commitment to the families of the Community Protection Guards (CPG) who lost their lives in a tragic ambush by bandits. The Governor made this promise during a condolence visit to the Tsafe Emirate, following the killing of nine guards in the ambush last week.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, Governor Lawal expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, lauding the guards’ bravery in defending their communities. The Governor assured the bereaved families that their loved ones’ sacrifice would not be in vain, and that the government would take full responsibility for their well-being.

“I am here today to express my condolences to the emirate, the people, and the families of our brave guards who were killed in an ambush. It was a tragic incident that deeply moved us. We witnessed the courageous actions of these guards who risked their lives to protect their people,” Governor Lawal said during his visit to the Tsafe Emir’s palace.

The Governor highlighted that, despite this setback, the state government remains committed to eradicating banditry in Zamfara. He vowed that such attacks would not deter the ongoing efforts to combat the threat posed by criminal elements in the state.

Governor Lawal also met with the Emir of Tsafe, Muhammadu Bawa.

“The Zamfara State government will take full care of the families of the slain guards. I am making this promise here, and we will ensure we keep to it,” Lawal stated, adding that his government would continue to intensify efforts to end banditry in the region.

Governor Lawal also announced donations of money and foodstuffs to support the victims’ families, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to providing for them in their time of need.

In response, the Emir of Tsafe, Muhammadu Bawa, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his consistent support and quick intervention in ensuring the safety of the people.
