Residents of Ejule in Kogi State are mourning the death of the community’s Chief Imam, Alhaji (Dr.) Amir Abubakar Ejiga, who passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2026.
The late cleric was widely regarded as a respected Islamic scholar and spiritual leader known for promoting peace, unity, and moral discipline within the community.
Reacting to the development, Alhaji Salihu Ademu expressed deep sadness over the sudden loss, describing the deceased as a man whose life was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.
In a condolence message, Ademu said the late Chief Imam played a significant role in fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening communal harmony in Ejule.
According to him, the deceased cleric’s sermons, counsel, and leadership positively impacted many lives and earned him respect across the community and beyond.
“His death is not only a painful loss to his immediate family, friends, and associates, but also a monumental loss to the entire Ejule community and the Muslim Ummah at large. He was a man of wisdom, humility, peace, and spiritual guidance whose life was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.
“The late Chief Imam stood as a symbol of unity, moral discipline, and peaceful coexistence among our people. His sermons, counsel, and leadership helped shape lives and strengthen the bond within our community. His absence will be deeply felt by all who came in contact with him”, he said.
Ademu urged residents of Ejule and the Muslim faithful to remain united, peaceful, and prayerful during the mourning period.
“Time like this call for togetherness, compassion, and mutual support. Let us honour his memory by preserving the values of peace, harmony, tolerance, and unity which he tirelessly preached throughout his lifetime,” he added.
He also prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late cleric, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, the Ejule community, and the Muslim Ummah.
