In an effort to promote peace, unity and job creation in Abia State, the Ngwa Social Club (NSC) has pledged to establish a multi-purpose town hall in Aba, which would be known as “Ovu Ngwa”.

According to the club, the structure will serve as a reminder that unity is the greatest strength for everyone.

The president, NSC, Prof. Paul Chibuike Ananaba (SAN) said the historical, cultural and strategic importance of Ovu in Ngwa land cannot be overstated, noting that the structure would serve as a symbol of unity, a place where the bonds of the community will grow stronger.

Ananaba made the submission during the group’s N5 billion launching at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos at the weekend.

“In today’s fast-paced world, we often find ourselves disconnected, each in our own bubble, struggling to maintain the close-knit ties that have always defined us.

“I envision that Ovu Ngwa will change that, it will be a shared space for all, a place where ideas are exchanged, celebrations are held, challenges are faced together, and friendships flourish.

“We will gather to celebrate milestones, solve our common problems, engage in genuine and lasting reconciliations and most importantly nurture the sense of belonging that each of us craves.”

He charged the people to be committed to making the Ovu Ngwa where unity and cooperation are embraced, where the future of the community is shaped by their bond and shared experiences that bring them closer.

Chairman, Entertainment Foundation of Nigeria, Dr. Tee Mac Iseli, who was also the chairman of the occasion, said that Ovu Ngwa in Abia State will promote the entertainment industry too.

“The entertainment industry will become the biggest moneymaker for Nigeria. At the moment, it is the biggest whitewasher in Nigeria. It is miraculous that music has a unifying force, music is for everybody,” he said.

Iseli charged the upcoming artists to follow in his footsteps by investing in themselves and not just buying expensive cars.

“Invest into projects which will create work for people and will enhance the development of Nigeria,” he encouraged.

The colourful event, which featured cultural dances and musical performances ended with a pledge by Ananaba to lay the foundation for the construction of the structure in Aba on December 28, 2024.
