The National Assembly members from Ogun State have been urged to unite and work diligently towards actualising the dream of Ijebu State.

They said Ijebu State is not only capable of expanding opportunities for the citizens to express their potential, but will also catalyse development across Ogun East, Ogun West, and Ogun Central senatorial districts.

The Founder of Hon. Olatunde Awonuga Foundation, Olatunde Awonuga, who made the call yesterday, in his New Year Message, titled: “Advancing the Vision of Ijebu State Creation,” said the creation of the state comes to realisation, it will bring dividends of democracy to every doorstep, create jobs for our teeming youth, and spur industrialisation.

While extending his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; Senator Gbenga Daniel and others, Awonuga acknowledged the wisdom and call for unity by His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona, where he urged the people of Remoland and Ijebuland to embrace harmony and collaboration, adding that the proposed Ijebu State represents a beacon of hope and an opportunity to strengthen “our collective heritage, unlocking prosperity for all within its borders.”

“Ogun East, with its two public universities, several private universities, an international airport, untapped deep-sea resources for an international seaport, and excellent topography for farming and agriculture, stands poised to thrive as a hub of economic and social transformation.

“The creation of Ijebu State will bring numerous benefits, including – enhanced governance and representation.

“The creation will attract federal allocations and investments to develop roads, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and utilities; with natural and human resources harnessed more effectively, industries such as agriculture, maritime trade, tourism, and technology will thrive, boosting the state’s economy; job creation; tourism development; and promotion of unity,” he said.

Awonuga called for open dialogue and cooperation between the people of Remoland and Ijebuland, focusing on the broader vision of a state destined to achieve greatness beyond imagination.

He also called on all Ogun State representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives to unite and work diligently towards actualising the dream of Ijebu State.

He said; “As we reflect on this vision, we fervently pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued love and support for Ogun State. We also acknowledge the enduring leadership of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona Awujale of Ijebuland, and His Royal Majesty, Akarigbo of Remoland, whose guidance inspires unity and progress.

“May this year bring us closer to the realisation of our collective dreams and aspirations. Together, we will build a future that echoes with the prosperity and pride of our people.”
