Gunmen abduct two priests in Adamawa
Two priests of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, also known as ‘Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria’s (EYN) clergymen, Rev. James Kwayang and Rev. Ishaku Chiwar have been abducted by unknown gunmen.
Spokesman of the Adamawa Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement, said police personnel have been deployed to trail the gunmen and rescue the two clergymen.
Reverends Kwayang and Chiwar were serving at the local council (LCC) at Mbila-Malibu where they were kidnapped on Sunday around 11:00 pm in the Song Local Government Area of the state.
The Rev. Daniel Mbaya, President, of the Church of The Brethren in Nigeria, who confirmed the abductions, called on security operatives to ensure the safe return of the clergymen.
He also urged religious leaders across the country and Nigerians to pray for the safe return of the priests.
“This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the EYN community, and we request your prayers and support during this difficult time,” he said.
The kidnappers were yet to make contact with the church and families of the priests at the time of this report.
