Gunmen kidnap Babcock staff in Ogun
A senior nursing officer at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, in Ikenne Local government in Ogun State, Elizabeth Uruakpa, has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen.
This was confirmed by the spokesperson for Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola.
“A distress call was received from Ilishan near the new market at about 1710hrs that one Elizabeth Uruakpa was abducted by young armed men who blocked her Honda CRV with their unregistered Red Toyota Camry, and zoomed off with her,” Odutola said.
“We have mobilised into the bush and the Officer in Charge of Anti Kidnapping has been contacted for possible clue and movement.”
It was gathered that Uruakpa aged, 66, was coming from the evening church service when the masked gunmen who had laid ambush swooped on her at the entrance of her house behind the new Ilisan market and took her away.
The incident threw the neighbourhood into panic as many residents and shop owners fled for safety.
A Professor, Yinka Olomojobi, with the university, was shot dead by kidnappers on Friday, April 19 at Ajadeh Event Centre, Iperu/Sagamu Road, Iperu Remo.
Olomojobi, who was a professor of Human Rights and Gender Law, was reportedly killed by the kidnappers for resisting.
