Hardship: Kazaure Emirate Council distributes N33m worth of food
The Kazaure Emirate Council in Jigawa State has distributed food items worth over N33 million to over two thousand less privileged persons in their domain as succour to the people amidst the present food crisis and economic hardship encountered by society.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held in Roni Local Government of the Emirate, the Committee Chairman, Alhaji Bala Muhammad, said the food items were sourced from farmers in the form of Zakat.
He said farmers in the area contribute the food items out of their Zakat, which is then given to the committee for onwards distribution to the appropriate persons.
Alhaji Bala added that the committee will continue to collect Zakat from well-off persons and give it to the needy in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
“However, we are encouraging people to also invest in our ‘Wakaf’ Programme, a Charity Foundation, to expand our program in supporting orphans, the less privileged, and people with persistent ailments,” he remarked.
In his speech, His Highness the Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, said the Emirate has been using Zakat as a means of supporting the less privileged in society and strengthening the chain of brotherhood within the community.
The Emir, who was represented by Makaman Kazaure, Alhaji Jamilu Umar Adamu, thanked the committee and the people of the area for their kind cooperation in supporting the collection and distribution of Zakat in the Emirate over the years.
