The Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has flagged off the Emzor/Aswani road, a decade after calls and appeals to the state government to fix the road.

The 500 metres road was flagged off amidst pomps and expected to be completed in May 2025.

The drainage is expected to be reconstructed alongside street lights and others.

Speaking during the flag off, the chairman of the LCDA, Bayo Olasoju, said: “We all agreed that this road must be reconstructed. The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu graciously approved the construction and we are here to flag off. The construction will last for six months because we are reconstructing a world class road.

“There will be street lights on both sides of the road and all the facilities needed on a 21-century road will be in place.”

Assuring that the project will be ready in six months, he said: “Before we speak, we have done our due diligence and everything expected of us. We are good to go.”

Also speaking, member, Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Chief Henry Ajomale said: “It’s not easy to decide to do this kind of road. The road is too large and it’s only the state and the Federal Government that can handle this type of road, but we are happy that the LCDA Chairman is confronting this road head-on and I think it’s a great achievement for somebody to have embarked on this project.”

The former Commissioner for Special Duties, Lagos State, pleaded with the companies on the axis to support the chairman, to ensure the success of the road.

“This road will assist the companies in their commercial activities, although the government is supposed to provide the infrastructure but since the Lagos State Government is not ready to do it, an LCDA decided to embark on the project.

“So, I expect the companies to assist both financially and in other aspects. I don’t expect a council to embark on this kind of project but he has decided to embark on it and he needs our support,” he said.
