Two security guards arrested for killing traveler in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested two security guards, Isikilu Dauda,55, and Rasaki Abbas over the alleged murder of a traveler, identified as Promise in Ibafo, Ogun State.

The suspects were arrested following a credible tip-off from a concerned citizen

The incident occurred on Thursday, 10th April 2026, at about 0700hrs.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Babaseyi said that based on the information, detectives from Ibafo Divisional headquarters promptly mobilized to the scene and rescued the victim to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

He said that while on the way to the hospital the victim explained that he was attacked and macheted by the security guards after arriving in the area late the previous night.

The Police PRO added that the victim was later pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital by the doctor on duty.

Babaseyi said ” Following the confirmation of death, the body was properly documented and deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for post-mortem examination.

“Preliminary investigation revealed a trail of blood linking the scene directly to one of the suspects, leading to his arrest, while sustained efforts resulted in the apprehension of the second suspect. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.”

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution.” he noted.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assuring that all those involved on the crime would be brought to justice.

Ojajuni warns against all forms of unlawful violence and reiterates the Command’s zero tolerance for extrajudicial acts.
