Kogi: Ododo orders appointees to mobilize residents for voter registration

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed all political appointees to return to their respective villages to mobilize citizens for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The directive, conveyed in a statement on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, takes effect from Monday, September 1, 2025. It was issued through a circular signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade.

According to the circular, Commissioners, top political appointees in each Local Government Area, and all other government officials must relocate to their LGAs to coordinate mobilization efforts at the ward level.

They are expected to submit a comprehensive report at the end of the exercise, detailing the number of new voters registered in their wards and councils.

Governor Ododo emphasized that governance should not be confined to the state capital but must be rooted in direct engagement with the grassroots.

He noted that government officials must remain accessible and responsive to the needs of their communities.

The circular further stipulates that any appointee wishing to leave their Local Government during the mobilization period must obtain prior written approval from the SSG or risk disciplinary action.

The statement reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to deepening grassroots governance and ensuring massive voter participation in the electoral process.
