The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the discovery of 339 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was made on May 9, 2026, during a routine stop-and-search operation carried out by operatives of the Area Command in Kabba.
The Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, who disclosed this while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Lokoja, said the operation was part of ongoing intelligence-led policing and efforts to curb criminal activities across the state.
According to him, officers intercepted a Honda Pilot vehicle during the operation, leading to the discovery of the suspected illicit substances concealed inside the car.
He explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly picked up the consignment from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State and was en route to deliver it in Yola, Adamawa State.
The police commissioner added that the suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the suspected trafficking network.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against crime, particularly drug-related offences, and urged residents to continue providing useful intelligence to security agencies.
